I recently took an old logo and recreated it with some minor changes to the layout to closely resemble the old. The file was lost and they needed to make adoption banners for meet and greets, paperwork watermarks, t-shirts, and other collateral so I provided a high resolution redux.
The process of filling in the void behind the text without covering the heart was important in my opinion to better integrate the use of the paw/heart symbol and the text. There are a lot of subtleties to this redesign that really make it cleaner and more structured and less bubbly. Understandably, canine related businesses or in this case, non-profits, do often like to use bubbly bouncy playful text. To me that pay homage to Comic Sans and we do not want Comic Sans unless we are making a flyer for a youth field day.
